| | | Thetford is a good place to recharge your batteries.
Within minutes of the hustle and bustle of the town centre you can find yourself enjoying the peace and quiet of our more natural attractions.

| | | Take time out to relax by our tranquil riverside and enjoy a lazy picnic or impromptu ice-cream as you watch the ducks drift by. Enjoy ambling along Spring Walk beside the river, past the old spa house from the days when the town had a short-lived spell as a place to ‘take the waters’ and head to Butten Island. Here you can sit and watch the wildlife and admire the impressive bronze statue of Maharajah Duleep Singh, the last Maharajah of the Punjab at the age of five and the first Sikh settler in Britain at only 11.

| | | For something equally unusual, make sure you visit England’s tallest medieval earthwork known as Castle Hill. This ancient defence works has been the subject of many a mystery and numerous legends surround its very existence. Stories range from hidden treasure to buried golden bells or even the work of the devil.

Don’t forget the more established King’s House gardens too – often used as the perfect setting for wedding photographs and a popular place to relax with a lunchtime sandwich! Click here for more information.
