|  | With an exciting new range of town trails including ‘Dad’s Army’, ‘Thomas Paine’, ‘Heritage’, ‘Duleep Singh’ and a special ‘Haunted Heritage Trail’ for those who dare to explore Thetford’s darker side…! We can offer groups a guided tour around the trail of their choice. Private tours can also be arranged and a number of public tours are scheduled throughout the year, which enables individuals to book a guided tour ~ please check the events calendar for dates, times and costs.

| Dad’s Army Experience Tours |
|  |  | Travel through the vast atmospheric Forest to arrive at the Bell Hotel in Thetford, where cast and crew of the hit show used to stay.
Enjoy morning coffee or tea in this historic building and view the photographs and memorabilia from Dad’s Army on display in the Hotel. The series started in 1967 ran for 10 years, many of which were filmed in Thetford and the surrounding villages.
See if you can spot the filming locations on a guided walking tour of Thetford – ‘Walmington-on-Sea Town Hall’ where the platoon rushed up the stairs to rescue the German pilot from the tower in the episode ‘Time on my hands’, Walk past ‘the free Polish club’ in Old Bury Road, the wall that Private Walker climber over to see his girlfriend, and watch our for the row of old flint cottages which featured regularly in the series.
Back to the Bell Hotel for lunch, and then transport yourself to Walmington-on-Sea, at the famous Bressingham Steam Museum and Gardens. Sit in the church hall scene of so many confrontations between Captain Mainwaring and the Verger! Visit the Vicars office, take a trip down the High Street, reminisce in Jones’s butcher’s shop, Frazer’s Workshop & Funeral Directors, Mainwaring’s Swallow Bank, the Post Office and Stores and the toyshop.
Finish up with afternoon tea or coffee and cake before you make your way home.

| Dad's Army Public Guided Tours |
|  |  | Let our guides retrace the film locations of the famous Croft & Perry sit-com Dad's Army ~ and then visit the Thetford Dad's Army Museum ~ recently extended & refurbished for 2009. You will complete your tour with tea/coffee at the Bell Hotel, used by the cast and crew of Dad's Army when staying in the area. You will also watch the DVD - Dad's Army Extra Time - which is a compilation of memories and anecdotes from some of the local people who where used as extras in the location filming. High Lodge Forest Centre in the middle of Thetford Forest Park offers much more than just a great family day out.
Our new education centre Oak Lodge enables us to offer tailor-made packages for group or corporate away days,
and our resident chef can cater for all tastes. You can choose between a BBQ, soup and a roll, rustic buffet or a full three course meal to refreshyou after your uniquely planned day.
The energetic can 'Go Ape' for two and a half hours on the high wire adventure course, or challenge the 'black'
cycle route!
Those after a fun day can attempt the orienteering route, try a cycling treasure trail or enter into the spirit with a team building session from one of our Rangers.
For a larger evening event, the green-oak framed High Lodge building can be hired privately, with or without the bar and catering services.
